There are instruction sheets with full photo guidance by paper-and-string
A4 patterns in three sizes.
Patterns need to be printed onto A4 and they need to be pieced together 
 
There are three patterns sizes Small, Medium & Large
 
The shell can be made with any printed cotton or you can patchwork or applique as you wish
 
Small Tortoise, Medium Tortoise & Large Tortoise make wonderful toys.  Small also makes a great table top pincushion, Medium a pillow for your bed or sofa and Large a big heavy footstool or floor cushion. 
 
Tortoises are for beginner sewists - all the steps are shown with photos and I walk you through every step.  If you are more experienced there are many variations to try. 
 
Fabric requirements
Small Tortoise - Finished size of shell 17cm x 17cm
Eyes:  safety eyes 9mm x2
Head, feet & tail: (fleece) 35cm x 30cm
Bottom Shell:  (canvas) 20cm x 20cm
Top Shell: (fabric) 25cm x 25cm (wadding) 25cm x 25cm
(patchwork 5cm squares x 25)
Stuffing : approx 100g  polyester (or 200g of plastic beads)
 
Medium Tortoise - Finished size of shell 30cm x 30cm
Eyes:  safety eyes 12mm x2
Head, feet & tail: (fleece) 64cm x 50cm
Bottom Shell:  (canvas) 37cm x 37cm
Top Shell: (fabric) 45cm x 45cm (wadding) 45cm x 45cm
(patchwork 5cm squares x 81)
Stuffing : approx. 200g  polyester
 
Large Tortoise - Finished size of shell 48cm x 48cm
Eyes:  safety eyes 15mm x2
Head, feet & tail: (fleece) 110cm x 60cm
Bottom Shell:  (canvas) 55cm x 55cm
Top Shell: (fabric) 70cm x 70cm (wadding) 70cm x 70cm
(patchwork 10cm squares x 49)
Stuffing :a pprox. 750g polyester, unprocessed wool or felt & fabric scraps.
